The weekend follow-up to Snowpocalypse 2014 was a weekend filled with rain and some pretty intense night time howling wind. The kind of wind you wonder if the roof will stay attached or if that big tree in the neighbor's yard will snap, fall, and crush you while you sleep.
The result of all the high winds in my neighborhood was for Monday to be garbage day and all the garbage bins were blown over and recycling was scattered all over the streets. It is a mess!
On Sunday, I did get out briefly in between rain showers to take some pictures and see what was going on. Most of the plants seemed to have survived the snow and ice with minimal extra damage. It may have pushed a few things over the edge though.
I also went to a nursery season opening and bought one plant - the first of 2014! We will see how Grevillea victoriae 'UBC Form' does! It appears there was only one Grevillea death of the four that were in the garden. Gotta keep pushing the zone! We won't have another winter this bad for years?!? Right?!?

You were well rewarded for your intrepid venture into the storm.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny how gardeners want to push the limits of their zone, even in Zone 8. I am still trying to get my head around all of the plants I never encountered in the Midwest!
