The One Peony to Rule Them All.

Here's the scene: It's a Friday of a "Snowpocalypse that Wasn't" and I'm at work.

Since there isn't much to do today work-wise — because fear of snow that didn't happen, I decide to look at a few old garden pictures to reminisce about what everything used to look like.

I've also been trying to weed out certain plants that are still listed in my personal garden book, but I know are no longer in the garden. There are way too many pink Echinacea listed in my book and I know many are dead but it's really hard to figure out exactly which ones are gone!  Thankfully my "Echinacea Period" is over. They just don't do it for me any more.

"The One" I'm talking about is the first peony that set my garden on its trajectory.

Seeing old pictures of it and the little stick it was back in 2008 got me thinking. Such a silly little thing it was at the time and back then my most expensive plant purchase for my new garden.

I think a special thing about gardeners is that they can buy a little stick plant and put all their dreams in it.

So many dreams were in that little stick back then.

This little stick will arise like a phoenix and sparkle like a garden diamond.

It might take a few years, but I had faith it would happen....

And it did!

Now I'm a silly old gardener with near 100 peonies and every single one of them helps fulfill my dream garden.
